From the recording Highway Rain

The first time I heard this song, written by Sean Danehy, was at SAMW (Summer Acoustic Music Week) as he performed it a capella with Charles Williams of Word-Beat.  It was powerful, moving and had me on the edge of my seat and I made a mental note on that night to ask to record it if I ever got around to recording a cd.  Several years later, the opportunity came along, I asked and Sean was gracious enough to allow me to include it on this cd.  Thank You Sean!
Musicians on this cut included:
Steve Rapson – Sound Effects

Lyrics
I heard the news last nite from my dear Mother
Made my heart stand still
She said my child I'll be leavin' your Father
I got nothin' left inside to feel

Oh Mama's leavin' Papa
Yeah, Mama's leavin' Papa
Oh Mama's leavin Papa
and I'm drivin' thru the highway rain

Well they raised us up
Taught us right from wrong
Fed us, clothed us and kept us warm
They're all I got, I gotta find my way home
Well what I'll see there, I can't think on

Cuz Mama's leavin' Papa
Yeah, Mama's leavin Papa
Oh Mama's leavin Papa
And I'm drivin' thru the highway rain

Yeah I'm drivin' thru the highway rain
Makin' my way back home
Well what I'.ll find there  the Lord surely knows
Will fill my heart with pain

Cuz Mama's leavin' Papa
Yeah Mama's leavin' Papa
Oh Mama's leavin' Papa
Yeah Mama's leavin' Papa and I'm drivin thru the highway rain

Highway rain
The highway rain
Highway rain
The highway rain
Highway rain
The highway rain
